Affordable access to telehealth

I believe in providing access to psychological services in a responsive and affordable way. The Australian Psychological Society recommends a standard fee of $318, which is a barrier for many people to getting help. By running a telehealth service, I try to pass on the costs saved in overheads to the client.

Medicare rebates as of 2026 are $98.97 for general registered psychologists. The individual session fee is $200, leaving out-of-pocket gap of $101.03. Out-of-pocket expenses count towards your Medicare Safety Net. I kindly ask for clients to pay their session fee up front.

Referrals under Medicare

Psychological treatment under Medicare involves a collaborative approach between your doctor and clinician and allows for Medicare rebates for psychology sessions. Your GP provides you with a Mental Health Care Plan, and your psychologist needs to correspond with them over the course of your treatment to advise them of progress. 

Clients may be eligible for a rebate for up to 10 individual counselling sessions, and up to 10 group therapy sessions, in a calendar year. Medicare requires that you, your clinician and your doctor periodically review how you are progressing with treatment (every four to six sessions). 

If you are managing the mental health impacts of a chronic or complex physical health condition, your GP may refer you for up to 5 rebated sessions per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM, formerly EPC) plan. Note that this 5-session allowance is shared with other allied health professionals (like a physiotherapist or dietitian).

WorkCover referrals

Psychology treatment under WorkCover requires a GP consult and an approved insurance claim. Sessions can be booked at $0 upfront cost if you are in possession of a pre-approved insurance claim, and I will bill your insurer directly. Note that WorkCover sessions require some contact with the insurer, with this to be discussed in the initial session. 

Private referrals

You can access my services without any referral as a private client. As a private client you can self-refer, just contact me to make an appointment. As a private client there are no Medicare rebates available on the fees for your sessions, however, you may be able to claim part or all of your fee through your private health fund. Any rebate from your health fund will be subject to your eligibility and applicable fund cover.
